Rob McKenna, former Washington State Attorney General and a current Partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe joined CEOtoCEO at our March 2019 breakfast to speak about "Seattle Tax Mania."

During his talk, Rob covered the history of the income tax in Washington, dating back to Depression era State Supreme Court rulings, to today's legal battles in the city of Seattle, and gave a forecast as to what the outcomes of these battles might be.

Specifically, Rob detailed the legal implications of an income tax and how the state constitution expressly prohibits one. He gave an update on the most recent cases and rulings with which he is involved, and he answered questions about how all of this affects business owners.

If taxes are a major concern for business owners and small business owners in particular, uncertainty may be the primary concern. Gaining insight from his insider's perspective, the business leaders in attendance left with a much clearer understanding of what to expect in terms of taxes on the city and state levels going forward.
